The foundation stone of\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: var( --e-global-color-astglobalcolor5 ); color: var(--ast-global-color-3); font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">the College was laid by Late Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then Hon&#8217;ble Vice President of India and Chancellor of the University of Delhi on 24th May, 1964.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Evening College began functioning from the same campus since 1969 as a full\u2010fledged constituent college of the University of Delhi. The college is renowned for providing education in Social Sciences, Humanities and Commerce to nearly two thousand students apart from those who are enrolled for distance education<br \/>under IGNOU.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">The College offers a wide range of co\u2010curricular and extra-curricular activities like International\/National Seminars\/Conferences, Innovation Projects, Workshops, Sports, Eco\u2010Club, NCC, NSS, Gandhi Study Circle, Ambedkar Study Circle, Enactusand Graduate Scholar Talk Series. In today&#8217;s globally competitive and technology driven environment, the mission of the college is to empower the students with quality education, which kindles creativity, promotes innovation and instills ethical values among them. Prominent alumni of the college are well placed in varied professions, ranging from Civil Services, Corporate Sector, Academics, Defense and Politics and are serving the nation. The college is well-equipped with good Infrastructure such as Library, Sports Ground, Canteen, Computer Labs and Reading Room with electronic access to different journals and books.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">The College is situated in East Delhi, at a very strategic location that attracts students from various corners of Delhi. Apart from numerous bus routes, it is also accessible by Delhi Metro. Visitors may get down at the &#8216;Welcome&#8217; Metro Station either on the Rithala\u2010Saheed Sthal (NBA), Red Line or on Pink Line Metro Route from where the college is hardly hundred yards away.
